The Royal Air Force Museum’s Wellington is moving for restoration.
July 2: The Royal Air Force Museum’s Wellington bomber is moving from the Museum’s Hendon site to the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre (MBCC) at Cosford for restoration.
The aircraft, one of only two survivors from the Second World War, has been on display since the Museum opened in the early 1970s. It appeared in the 1955 film The Dambusters. It has been dismantled and set off for Cosford on July 1. Visitors to the MBCC's 'Open Weeks' throughout the year will be able to monitor the progress of the Wellington as it is dismantled and checked for corrosion before the task of refurbishment begins.
